If I select “credit” and
use my SuperCheck debit card like a Visa card, will I receive
a
bill in the mail?
No. Whether you use it like an ATM card or a Visa® card, the
money will ALWAYS be deducted automatically from your checking
account.
Items will appear on your monthly checking statement.
What’s the difference between
the “debit” and the “credit” options?
- Choose the "credit" option on the merchant's keypad
and your purchase is processed through the Visa® network.
The amount still comes out of your checking account, but you
don't have to
enter your PIN.
- Select the "debit" or "ATM" option on the
merchant's keypad and you’ll be prompted for your PIN.
The transaction is processed through the ATM network and the
amount
will be immediately deducted from your checking account. Use
this option to get cash back with your purchase.
When are SuperCheck transactions
deducted from my account?
Debit and ATM transactions, those for which you use your PIN, take
effect immediately. Transactions processed through Visa®, those
for which you sign a receipt, may take a day to be deducted from
your account. Either type of transaction will be itemized on your
monthly checking statement with the name or address of the merchant
or transaction. Be sure you have adequate funds in your account
before you use your card.
Will I be charged a fee when I use my
SuperCheck card for purchases?
There are never fees when you use your card as a Visa® "credit"
transaction. There are usually no fees when you use your card as
an "ATM" or "debit" transaction. However, some
merchants, such as gas stations, may transmit a balance inquiry
when you use your card as an "ATM" or "debit"
transaction, and a balance inquiry fee may result. To avoid that
fee, always select "credit."
Can I choose my own SuperCheck
PIN?
Yes, you can change your PIN at Virginia Credit Union ATMs.
Access the ATM using your current card and PIN, choose “More
Selections” on the ATM screen and follow the prompts
to select your new PIN.
If you have changed your PIN and want to
use your card at ATMs outside the United States, please contact
our
ATM/Debit Card
Department
for special instructions before traveling.
